Corona Virus (COVID-19) Cleaning and Sanitization Process
At the Nautilus Inn, we take the health and safety of our guests and associates seriously. We are closely monitoring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization’s statements regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and following the guidelines from these agencies as well as local health departments and medical professionals. The CDC has not issued a travel health notice for the continental U.S. regarding COVID-19. Yet as an enhanced preventative measure in light of current related events in Florida, we’ve further enhanced our cleaning, communication, and promotion of healthy hygiene practices. As we move toward our goal reopening the Nautilus Inn for guest arrivals, we are taking many extra precautions to ensure the health and safety of our staff and guests.
Our team has developed new practices that achieve the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitization as recommended by the CDC to prevent the spread of Corona Virus (COVID-19).
Throughout the past month, we've been reviewing WHO and CDC cleaning protocols and have been adapting many of our efforts to meet their suggestions. We have been reviewing all guest pathways for "touch points" and "crowding" locations.
Our housekeeping departments now clean with quick acting disinfectants and clean more frequently on a modified schedule. Our housekeepers will continue disinfecting all contact surfaces in each room with an extra emphasis on remote controls, toilet and faucet handles, etc. We are modifying bedding to allow for a complete washing of all blankets on each unit turnover. These are only a few examples of our continued effort to provide the best possible experience for everyone during this time.
Hand sanitizer dispensers accessible to guests are located in all of our public spaces and lobbies. Our focus has been on frequent cleaning and disinfecting all common areas such as the lobby, bathrooms and especially frequently touched surfaces like elevator buttons, doors and luggage carts.
For associates who have direct contact with guests, e.g. front desk agents, food service attendants, housekeepers, etc., we provide surface disinfecting products and hand sanitizer bottles and/or dispensers. We have installed plexi-safety guards to provide extra protection for the front desk staff and guests. Our staff will be encouraged to wear masks and gloves. We are working to provide hand sanitizer stations in many areas for easy guest’s access.
For guests checking in, associates are asking guests to disinfect their hands upon arrival and sharing hand washing, coughing and sneezing etiquette tips.
Our managers have been provided with details of the CDC guidelines to share with their associates during pre-shift meetings. Managers will ask associates to stay home when they are sick. Additionally, we have communicated directly to all associates regarding the necessity of safe hand washing and hygiene practices.
We will make every effort to continue to meet all guest check-in times. We ask for your patience during peak periods for any minor delays as we will not compromise our standards to assure your protection and satisfaction.
Additional Safety Measures You Can Take
Practice social distancing - Put distance (approximately 6 feet) between yourself and others
Wash your hands often – It is critical to wash hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
Avoid Contact - Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
Wear a cloth face cover in public– When going into a public setting, including community pools, grocery stores, gas stations, etc., wear a face cover to protect others in case you are infected.
Disinfect Your Room During Your Stay - Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, faucets and sinks. Since we do not include daily housekeeping during this during this period of caution, guests are asked to bring disinfectant wipes and spray just as they would use to disinfect their own home.
